GW1 accounts merge in GW2?
A lot of people who play Gw actually have more than one account, myself included. Thus far, Gayle Gray has said that account merging was out of the question because it was too complex of a task.
Ok.
But GW2 is still far away and I was thinking that maybe, just maybe, that feature would somehow become real when GW2 is released. Since GW2 will be a brand new game with only small fragments of the original account being transfered (name and some achievements), perhaps it will be possible.

Ill assume that GW2 Will have an option to purcase char slots fromt the very start
therefore stopping the need for 2 accounts...unless you want to be in 2 guilds i suppose...hmm other than that ive need seen the advantage of 2 accounts...

I think you need to clarify what you are suggesting.
Are you saying you think you should be able to carry the names and titles of any character across multiple accounts to your new Guild Wars 2 account?
That's not really transferring accounts, just saving a name and achievements, and I really have no idea how it will work in Guild Wars 2. I assume as long as you have the Key for your account(s), you can transfer names and achievements over... but that's just my assumption.

If they call it Guild Wars 2 instead of Guild Wars: Next Campaign, it's probably because it's going to be a completely different game. I think they would if they could, but right now I'm sure their focus is placed more on making a good game.

I dont think thats the suggestion, I *Think* the suggestion is the ability to merge 2 accounts in GW 2 (like people who own more than one account now cant do)

Mr. G, that's exactly it. As it is, I would have to buy two copies of GW2 so "characters" of my two GW1 accounts can keep going in the new game.

But your characters don't continue in gw2, we're going to be making all new characters for gw2. Your achievements are going to be whats passed on to gw2. I've never seen a reason to buy 2 accounts, since I think its a waste of money, but I have no problem with someone linking 2 gw1 accounts to gw2.
Although it'll probably just be one gw1 account for each gw2 account. Why not waste some more money, since if you have 2 accounts I'd assume you bought both factions and nightfall twice, so your obviously willing to spend more money for each account.

I brought the idea up to Gaile on several occassions in game shortly after the announcement of GW:EN and GW2. I dont know if she took it further but I was able to get responses from her on it in her visits. Cant find the ss's I had of it but I do know that she at least had it on the list of things to look into.
Its deffinently something I would love to see, as I do have two accounts and would like to merge them some how since there is no reason to have two anymore.

Ok, can I clarify here? What you're suggesting is that you want to know if the titles, achievements etc of the TWO GW1 accounts you already own will be transferrable to ONE GW2 account, to save you having to buy two copiesof GW2 immediately?
I think it's a pertinent question, but many people seem to be getting confused and thinking you mean bringing your characters themselves into the game, which we've been told will not be a possibility in GW2.

I know, by "characters" I mean the names of the characters. And I would *finally* stop using a friend as a "FedEx" when I need to transfer stuff from one account and vice-versa.

My second was created way before the online store opened. I wanted more character slots to try out different classes/combos. Unfortunately I could not go back and "undo".

That's pretty much it. If this would be done then everything would be under one account. No more fiddling between two.

Sorry about the confusion, it's all a matter of bringing my existing GW1 accounts into 1 when GW2 comes out.

If you are asking that one GW2 account could take HoM info from several GW1 accounts... I say make it like buying a char slot. For an extra 5 bucks you can link 1 extra GW1 account to your new GW2 account. I know a few people with 2 accounts and I'm sure a lot of them would want to link multiple accounts.

I'm kinda worried on how they will be doing this actually. I lost the keys to ALL MY GAMES and there was the time I couldn't go online for like 3 months, which lead to me forgetting my PlayNC master account name and password.
